5 Days On Foot Adventure will enabled the visitors to walk to the top through volcanic dusts and ashes which is very steep, but an extraordinary experience for those who wish to view the inside of an active volcano. The summit reaches the height of about 9,000 feet. The climb and descent take an entire day. The view from the top includes the Crater Highlands, Lake Natron and a glimpse into Kenya.
A visit to this area isn’t complete without seeing Lake Natron. A soda lake on the border with Kenya, it’s seldom visited, but well-remembered for it’s pink ribbons of Lesser and Greater flamingos by those who have made the trip…The area around the lake is inhabited by ostriches, zebra, giraffe and the occasional Thompson gazelle.
Day 1: Arrive in Arusha
Arrive anytime at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). We will arrange a private transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
To Arusha at Ilboru Safari Lodge, where the rest of the day is at leisure.
We stay at Ilboru Safari Lodge, which is beautifully located on the slope of Mt. Meru and is a perfect place to prepare for your adventure.
We will gather in the hotel for a pre-climb briefing and an equipment check.
We will also confirm you have the appropriate mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance.
Day 2: Full day walking safari to Arusha National Park:
We depart for Arusha National Park to start our two day tour of the park.
Today will include a game drive and safari on the lower slopes of Mt. Meru.
We are almost guaranteed of close encounters with the resident herd of Cape Buffalo and many of the giraffe that inhabit the park.
We will overnight at the special campsite
Day 3: Full day walking safari to Empakaai and Lake Natron:
Today we start walking from Empakaai to Lake Natron.
We descend the outer hills of the Great Rift Valley; we walk through the open plains of the Embulbul depression, passing through Naiobi village.
We have also the great opportunity to meet the local Maasai.
Ol Doinyo Lengai and Mount Meru are seen along the way.
Donkeys carry our luggage.
Afterward we proceed to the Acacia Campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Full day walking safari to Olmoti Crater:
Another chance to stretch our legs when we hike from the Nainokanoka ranger post through the forest up to the top of a spectacular waterfall with an armed ranger.
The waterfall is part of the Munge River which flows through the crater on its way to Ngorongoro Crater.
We’ll return to our accommodations on the Ngorongoro Crater rim for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Full day game to Ngorongoro Crater:
After breakfast we depart for Ngorongoro Crater passing through the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands before arriving at the rim of the crater…We’ll descend into the crater which is one of the most densely crowded game areas in the world, home to nearly 40,000 animals…Here we’ll have a good chance of seeing the big five: lion, leopard, rare Black Rhino, buffalo and elephants…Along with the big five; we will also see herds of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle…After a picnic lunch we’ll continue our game drive than depart the crater and arrive at our accommodations just before dusk for dinner on the crater rim.
Day 6: Game drive and village walking to Lake Manyara National Park:
We depart from your lodge proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. Although small in size, this park is one of the most diverse reserves in the country.
Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park. At the backdrop is the wall of the Great Rift Valley, before which lies the ground water forest, areas of open grassland near the lake foreshore, and the Soda Lake. We enjoy a picnic lunch in this area, which consists of open grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise that has more than 350 species of bird. The park is also famed for its unique and elusive tree- We will leave Lake Manyara National Park in the Afternoon to Arusha at Ilboru Safari Lodge.
